We are pleased to report our St. Ann parish campaign, GATHERING TOGETHER FOR CHRIST, has received $1,236,737.00 in gifts and pledges from 153 households.
We are only $263,263.00 away from our goal!Of course we can, with your help!
Unexpected repair work to our historic 1911 church is what made this campaign a necessity. The church has suffered water infiltration in its ceilings and walls. To repair this damage, work must be done that includes replacing some of the point stone, grouting some of the wall stone, replacing the two flat roofs, and replacing the tin that runs on both sides of the church roof. All of it is necessary to restore the integrity of the church building.
Since this work must be done before the situation gets worse, it is cost-effective to address interior needs now while workers are on site. Some of these matters include painting the interior of the church and replacing the carpet and tile.
While we must raise money to pay for the needed repairs, now seems an opportune time to take a long view of our future. Our goal is to create an endowment to help secure our financial future and to fund some projects that would make our future even brighter. Among our list of possible projects are
Our campaign goal is $ 1.5 million of which $500,000 is to cover repair improvement costs; $500,000 to put towards our endowment; and the remainder to fund some of our projects over time.
To stop water leakage in the walls of the church the tin that lines the roof needs to be removed and repaired with an ice barrier membrane and covered with copper sheathing.
Some of the exterior walls have been regrouted to prevent further leakage.
The two flat roofs, which have been patched many times over the years, will be replaced because they have failed from water damage.
Some stonework on the roof will be replaced in a few areas to seal out water.
The outside stairs in the front entrance and on the grotto side have been reseated in part and grouted and power washed.
Once the fabric of the building has been sealed as described above, the interior of the church will be painted, the carpet in the sanctuary (the area just behind the altar rails) will be removed revealing the marble underneath. The whole marble floor will be grouted as necessary, cleaned and polished.
We hope to replace the carpet and tile in the body of the church with cork flooring.
First and foremost pray for the success of this venture.
When you receive your campaign packet in the coming weeks, either by mail or by attending a gathering after the Masses, please pray to ask the Holy Spirit to help you make your best sacrifice. If we all do that we will surely reach our goal, if not surpass it!
All contributions/pledges will remain confidential.
